Introduction

Part symposium, part debate, this is a day of presentations and discussions on the theme of Change Design.

What can communication design bring to everyday life? How can we make a difference as visual communicators to our social context? We will be looking at ways to change the way we practice and to educate designers so we can bring about change through our work and communities.

Themes include:

• What role can an institution such as ours play in envisioning/designing a future?
• What’s the value of design activity and achievement as social currency
• Connecting with communities – who might we work with and how?
• What can design education offer the design community and the design community offer education?
• How can we integrate sustainable practices within design?
